Social Work

Tue Apr 14, 2009, 5:11 AM
Guys, I want to apologize for writing such a crappy journal entry the other day. I was rushed (and tired) and...well...you saw what happened.

To be honest, I'm really happy with where things are going nowadays. I'm nearing the end of my first semester at Millersville University, and I've had some great experiences here. My chosen major - Social Work - has become more than just a major. It's my chosen profession. I WANT to help people, and I guess this is how God wanted things to work out. To be more specific, I want to work in the local Office of Aging, specifically Adult Protective Services. Why? Because children aren't the only ones who can be abused and neglected, that's why. Caregivers can be just as evil towards their older adult charges as an abusive parent is to his or her children.

When I get back home (I'm typing in one of the computer labs right now), I have a Geopolitics paper to complete; two group presentations to work on; and a take-home test to get done.

Tying up all the loose threads can be a hell of a lot tougher than it looks, let's just say that.

Long Overdue Update

Tue Aug 26, 2008, 5:30 AM
Sorry I haven't been on in forever...

School's been a bitch, but if I get through this semester it'll be worth it. I'll have an Associate's Degree from Harrisburg Area Community College then, and from there I go to Millersville to get a Bachelor's ....

I got an English class in a couple minutes, so I'll try to keep this short. I plan on coming back to DeviantART and posting new material, but please understand that I have to put my academics on an equal standing with my artistic tendencies.

If you want to get in touch with me, I'll list my contact info here:

AOL: wolfronin20

MSN: furryface18@hotmail.com

Yahoo!: furryface18

I'm also on Gaia Online, screen-name Quiet Dojo.

If I don't hear from you soon, have a wonderful fall. Keep the peace, love one another, and make the Mother Goddess proud...

Gexy and You

Thu May 1, 2008, 6:21 AM
So I was bored this morning and decided to do a search on DeviantART. I just picked two random words - USB and girl - and hit search, and I got over 200 separate deviations, all of them "USB girls."
Our fascination with technology, it seems, has expanded itself into what I'm calling "gexy" - a fusion of geek culture and the traditional Western idea of "sex appeal."

Are we becoming so "in tune" with our computers that we feel the need to connect with them on a personal, no, intimate level? If so, as a society we've certainly moved from the visions of inhuman, cold-blooded entities that HAL and the computer from "Wargames" personified.

Females that store information as well as satisfy the desires of the people who use them...Hell, I know I'd want one. On one condition:
She let me take care of her "system" as well as she'd take care of mine. :p
